Tebowing

This past Sunday my father and brother went to the Vikings/Broncos Football game in Minneapolis to watch their favorite team.  Yes, my father and brother are Minnesota fans and I haven’t found a way to excommunicate them, yet.  My father went to get a beverage during the game and heard an altercation between a couple of people develop in the tunnel.  Now, this wasn’t a Minnesota/Denver fan-based disagreement as you might expect during an NFL game, but instead, an argument about Denver’s quarterback, Tim Tebow.  Apparently, it went something like this:

20-30 year old (Speaking loud enough to make a scene for people to hear): ”I’m sick of all this Tim Tebow, Christian, praying, business.  Who does he think he is?  Who cares about his God?!  His God is nothing!”

6’6”, 300lb Grown Man (Rather Imposing figure): “Why don’t you just cool it.  That’s my God you’re talking about.”

20-30 year old: Takes one look at the man who commented to him and quietly shrinks away into the crowd.

My father said that you could have literally heard a pin drop in the middle of the Metrodome tunnel.

Whether you are a fan of Tim Tebow and his open display of his Christian faith (something I do appreciate, but wish he didn’t have to do it in an ugly orange Denver Broncos jersey!) or totally against it, you can’t deny that it has gotten people talking!

I would be curious to hear what people think of Tebow.  It seems people either love him or hate him.  Personally, I find his personality, faith, and determination not to back down from the secular world’s comments very refreshing.  I pray that he continues to show his authentic Christian faith before the people who watch him play.
